iPad may have set several sales records, but the fact that everyone would concede is that the tablet is an expensive piece of technology. However, the tablet might get a little cheaper in Europe. T-Mobile and Orange are now looking to subsidize the tablet in Europe by bundling it with service contract. Orange will start selling the tablet at its stores from next month. The tab's base price has been set at $383 or 279 euros. Apparently, this subsidized price will be applicable only if you sign up for a 24 months long contract at 35 euros per month. The lowest price for an unencumbered iPad in the US is $499.
Orange and T-Mobile are working in a joint venture in the UK. The latest move of tying the tablet with a service contract may be perceived to be good or bad depending on your point of view. Although, you will get that glitzy tablet at a much more reasonable price, but you will be stuck with a contract for 24 months. What is your take on this move? Would you prefer to keep your tablet free from a service providers' clutches or would you rather have the tablet at lower price?
