Another Assassin's Creed in 2011?

Ubisoft has hit gold with Assassin's Creed. It is a fantastic game and they know it. The thing about good games is, they make money, a Hell of a lot of it and Ubisoft has made no secret that they are loving the money that is being pulled in by the Assassin's Creed franchise.

They're even considering making the game a yearly franchise. Whilst the gap between Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 was a fairly standard two years Assassins Creed: Brotherhood will be hitting shelves today, just one year after the second instalment so it's already well on its way to becoming an annual game.

What's strange about this is that early this year we were told not to expect yearly sequels to become the norm for the series. Speaking to Eurogamer, Ubisoft Montreal’s Jean-Francois Boivin said they already intend to give the series a year off and there won’t be a new Assassin’s Creed in 2011.

“Honestly, I think for the benefit of everybody-at the end of the day it’s about selling games — I believe that this license needs a breather,” Boivin explained. “You can’t plough a field every year. Once every three years — or once every something — you have to let it breathe.”

What is going on at Ubisoft?

I guess it all depends on the sales of Brotherhood on which way it goes. My money is on a 2011 November release.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
