Google is out to conquer yet another territory and this time the online search giant is making foray into the fashion market. Thechoice of the new business makes sense, since fashion industry is considered to be the fourth largest industry worldwide and has conservative turnover of around $500 billion. But wait, don't rush out to buy a Google labeled gears just now. The company is not looking to be a vendor in the market. Instead, it will launch a fashion-centric website which will direct the users towards existing vendors' websites. Apparently, Google is already in talks with designers such as Marchesa and Oscar de la Renta for setting up their shops in the site.

Internet is certainly going upscale and is not content selling generic goods only. Recently, Google's Eric Schmidt collaborated with high profile personalities such as Rupert Murdoch's wife Wendi Deng  for setting up an art selling website Art.sy. Google has hired Sarah Jessica Parker as its brand ambassador for the new fashion venture. Other celebrities such as Katie Holmes would also be lending a helping hand for promoting the website. So, do you think you will opt for online purchase of your designer duds. I am leaning more towards tradition brick and mortar stores where I can physically touch and see the stuff I am going to spend my entire month's salary on, but then Google is known to be a game changer so let's just wait and see.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
