HP has announced that their webOS 2.0 phone – the Palm Pre 2 – will be landing in the UK SIM-Free this friday. At this time the HP Smartphone has only been available in France and although a US release is being planned there are no dates for that release as of yet.
Unfortunately, this may be a bit of a messy release from HP as the device has yet to have it’s pricing announced, but since it’s a SIM-free release it’s likely not going to be cheap. Also, at this moment there is no word at all on any potential networks snapping up the smartphone (which could mean grabbing the device for much less).
HP’s Palm Pre 2 is boasting a 1GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, an Abode Flash Player 10.1 Beta, and HP’s very own operating system webOS 2.0.
How strong a competitor in the smartphone market HP’s device can be is to be speculated, but without any UK networks using the device yet we don’t see it going to far at the moment.
