IOS 4.2 and Android 2.3 coming very soon?

It's getting close to the end of the year, but there's still plenty of time to whip out some updates. Smartphone users are in for a treat this November as both Apple and Google are set to start rolling out the latest versions of their operating system

Apple's website states quite clearly IOS 4.2 is coming this month.

But for those who like details a lit bit more specific (conflicting) reports state that the update will hit iPads and iPhones alike either tomorrow or on the 12th. The image above is the type of screenshot floating around which seemingly confirms a November 12th update.

And as for Google, the open handset alliance just can't keep a secret. One of their members has hit Twitter to say that Gingerbread (Android 2.3) is a'coming to developers handsets 'in the next few days' and the rest of us 'a few days/weeks after that, so hopefully Gingerbread will start hitting other handsets over the coming weeks and months but there's no doubt this will stretch into the new year, with some Android handsets out there not even on Froyo yet.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
