Dell is looking to expand the reach of its custom user interface "Stage UI". It seems like the UI will make its way to Dell Streak, once this tablet gets upgraded to Android 2.2. Streak has  just been launched in Japan and is likely to get the OS update in December, however folks in the US and Europe are going to get luckier even before that.

An unofficial leak of Froyo for Streak was found sporting "Stage UI" and it sparked the rumors that  Dell may introduce the interface to the tablet. Among the main features of this UI are the huge panels showing apps, shortcuts and contacts. Unlike icons, every single pane covers the  entire screen, however you can access your app drawer with a swipe.

While StreakSmart has managed to run a custom ROM on Streak complete with Dell specific widgets, Good and Evo ran the same software on HTC EVO 4G. So, what is your opinion about the custom Dell Interface? Does it tickle your fancy? Let us know.

Oh no.. Oh no.. Hopefully they won’t ruin the Froyo update with this ridiculous new skin.. Or at least make it a choice for users..

Yup, Roshan, they ruined the Froyo update with their latest experiment.

Thats what the Streak is though, look at the evidence:
Releasing it new, with 1.6 but high-tech hardware.
Releasing a buggy 2.1 upgrade for O2 customers.
Leaving O2 customers with their buggy OS, whilst rewarding those without, with the new Froyo.
New User Interface, quite unlike the old one, just to see if people can cope with yet another change.

Seriously, it’s almost comical to think about what other crap they might come up with next.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
