Clive Sinclair made computers personal and calculators slim but sadly, he failed to make cars electric.
He lost millions (about nine of them) when his Sinclair C5 (1985) flopped. With a top speed of 15MPH and yet still branded death-traps by the AA, it's no wonder.
That doesn't stop the eccentric inventor though. He's back with a new electric car the X1.
Like the C5, the user sits low with his legs extended in front of him but is partly enclosed in an acrylic bubble with a roll cage. Critics have suggested the vehicle is underpowered, offers only some protection from the weather and is likely to struggle with potholes.
But regardless,the vehicle is expected to be on sale next summer.
