Microsoft has spoken out about netbooks, saying what analysts, and most people with a bit of tech sense have been saying for a long time since the release of tablets, that tablets are 'cannibalizing' netbooks. Microsoft's General Manager for Windows product management, Gavriella Schuster, while speak to SeatllePI said that netbooks are "definitely getting cannibalized" (shocker).
While talking about the dying out mini-notebooks, Schuster said that "These are really a second device", "but they are getting cannibalized."
Several years back, when netbooks were as popular as tablets are getting now, Microsoft had a big push to get their Windows OS on as many as possible, which worked out particularly well.
Now Microsoft is mimicking its actions on the ever-rising tablet devices, a little behind on the game, not giving us anything particularly outstanding as of yet. However, with Microsoft finally admitting that tablets are the future, we may see more dedication to the devices from them in the future.
