There's another kid on the tablet block who is packing a new range of tablet devices of which the first is coming out today. Archos, have today launched the Archos 70. Could this be another strong competitor in the fast growing tablet market? Well, its spec time.
The Archos 70 is using an 800 x 480 pixel multitouch display, and a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor. Connectivity-wise, the Archos 70 has wireless 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth capabilities. Also, expect a front-facing camera which has a VGA resolution.
As for the operating system, the tablet is running on Google's Android 2.2. Unfortunately despite this, the Archos 70 does not have the Android Market available on it, meaning that you will have to sideload them as opposed to the more convenient normal loading procedure. Whether other models in this series will have the same problem or not is unconfirmed at this moment.
Overall, the specs for this tablet are quite good, and the device comes in at a modest $279. Another model from Archos which is expected in the next few days with a rather impressive 250GB hard drive is coming in at $350.
