Apple’s iPad Hold A 95% Market Share In Tablet Devices

Apple's iPad has been reported to be responsible for 95% of sales in the tablet market at this moment. This figure, although sounds shocking, is actually no surprise at all, as the tablet market has had no strong competition until very recently.

Expect the figure to shift in the coming months (or maybe even over this shopping season) with a number of Android tablets getting launched with the most notable being the Samsung Galaxy Tab which was released in the UK just yesterday and is going to be released in the US in the net couple of weeks.

In regards to the newly started tablet war, analyst Neil Mawston said that the upcoming competition is "trailing in Apple's wake and they already have much ground to make up." Mawston has estimated that Apple have sold 4.19 million iPads in Q3 2010, with a 26% rise in global sales. However, the Android market share has supposedly declined from 2.9% to 2.3% in the same period.

Despite this, with competition coming in all directions with a vast number of manufacturers and OS developers, we will still be seeing massive change, and Apple will be waving bye-bye to their massive market dominance.

  • Wow, that’s pretty impressive. 95% of people buy the only product that is actually on sale.
I think that the iPad will still be the leader for the foreseeable future. Well, I do not know what the tablet market share meanings, but I think Apple iPad is deserve it.
I got one just after the release and love it, also using AirDisplay on it makes me realize how touch-unfriendly Redmond’s OS really is. Same can actually be said for any desktop OS, which is why the iPad works; it is a touch based OS. What’s more, with the touch-friendly, watching movies on iPad in the help of iFunia iPad Converter really convinent and amazing, on the go!!!
