Xbox 360 Dashboard Update Out Now

The latest Xbox 360 dashboard update is here, and it’s a biggy. The update is global, and should be automatic to any Xbox 360 users (naturally needing to be connected to Xbox LIVE) and should be available now and if not in the next few hours. The dashboard has had a huge overhaul in design, showing a more wii-esque look as well as a change to all the usual sounds.

Once you get over this rather massive aesthetic change, you will also notice that sound quality of voice chat has improved, connecting to wireless networks has been made easier, and a huge change in the Xbox LIVE marketplaces.

Other features which have come with the update include; ESPN on Xbox LIVE which allows you to watch 3,500 live and on-demand sports events. Zune music, which effectively works like a monthly-subscription Spotify for your Xbox.  There is also Netflix search which makes finding Films and Television shows much easier.

The Xbox 360 has also taken a more family friendly approach with the latest update with new settings for parents to keep their children away from the rated content. The console has intelligent default settings to automatically customize content based on the players age (although this can be changed easily) and Title Exceptions which allows families to prevent under-age members from playing games which are unsuitable for them.

  • @kealmcking if its taken you over 2 hours to download you must have a proper crap connection, best you stay away from online gaming

  • Not impressed with the new look since updating!

They need to do some color changes on a couple things, such as when you hit the xbox button and look at friends and messages, white just doesn’t cut it, it is hard to see.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
