Microsoft seems to be feeling generous to their employees, offering free Windows Phone 7 devices to all their 89,000 staff (making it a very nice early Christmas present/bonus).
Microsoft Exec Guy Gilbert told Network World that "Every Microsoft employee will be getting a Windows Phone 7 phone" and "a lot of people use Windows phones, prior or current. Everybody's very excited about the fact that they're going to get a Windows Phone 7."
Microsoft employees in the past have apparently been avoiding Windows phone devices in the past, instead getting phones from their competition. This has been seen as so much of a taboo in some cases that employees have disguised them, so they can be used at work. This probably didn't bother Microsoft themselves too much in the past as they only covered service fees of devices of employees when it was a Microsoft product.
However, with the amazing reception Windows Phone 7 has been receiving, it's likely that policy may mean a heavy dent in funds when they dish out the devices to their employees. Hopefully Microsoft employees who jumped the gun and grabbed a device straight away won't be slapping themselves for doing so because of this.
