BT has installed their first underground WiFi spot for trial testing for the people of the London Underground, showing new bounds for where we can desperately get access to the internet.
The WiFi spots have been originally placed through Charing Cross, where people will be able to get Wi-Fi signal from Bakerloo to the Northern line platforms. BT broadband customers will be able to access the WiFi for free, and any mobile phone with WiFi connectivity is also free.
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London is very much supporting this underground Wi-Fi scheme. He has already said in the past that he wants every lamp post and bus stop to be a Wi-Fi hotspot as he pledged to make London a 'Wi-Fi hotspot' for the 2012 Olympics.
The underground Wi-Fi trial is supposedly going over a period of six months, and begins on November 1st. If all goes well we could be seeing the entire underground being an internet haven in just a couple of years.
