The £90 Android tablet: Buy one now at Toys R Us

Well, before I even begin, it's going to be no iPad so let's hear no more about Apple. But that said, Let's have a big cheer for cheap tablet devices. *Cheer*

The Elonex eTouch android tablet first clocked at IFA in Germany is now hitting Toys R us stores in time for Xmas and will be selling for just £89.99 (for a 7 incher); making it the cheapest Android tablet around. You can also go bigger and grab 10-inch model for a still dirt cheap, £149.99.

"This is yet another new, exciting and innovative product that we are confident to bring to our sales floor. It is important that Toys 'R' Us inspire this young and inspirational market offering the best affordable products on the marketplace", said Mike Coogan, marketing director at Toys 'R' Us.

So what does this toy have to offer us for our money?

A 2GB SSD which can be expandable via a micro SD card slot that includes a 2GB micro SD card, an Android 2.1 operating system which all runs on a ARM 11 1GHz processor.

Plus, the tabs also have a 2.0 USB and a mini USB port along with a 3.5-inch audio port. Microphone, stereo speaker with volume adjustment and a power adaptor.

I did say I wasn’t going to mention the Apple, but it must be said, they do have the apperance of knock-off iPads.

Even so, for £90 I’m tempted to buy one. Download a few games, shot it in a bag and lunch-time fun is guaranteed.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
