Yesterday we told you about Barnes and Noble's latest stab at the Kindle in the form of 'Nook Kids,' their new children's E-book platform. This could mean that a Nook colour is imminent we said (and so did every other gadget blog) and we we're right.
It's official. The new Nook reader has a standard backlit colour touchscreen display with a 16million colour, 1024x600p resolution. Frankly it looks amazing. But as with everything there's downsides. The Kindle is a trooper of an E-reader that can run for weeks but now with colour the Nook will need a juice top-up every eight hours. Let the colour VS battery debate commence.
And for those on Kindle's side, the new Nook also comes with an inbuilt mono speaker and 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, storage for more than 6,000 books, expandable via microSD, Wi-Fi connectivity and the ability to share notes and comments on content via social media outlets Facebook and Twitter all for a reasonable $249.
The US market will be able to pick themselves up a Nook Color from November 19th. But I guess us in the UK will just have to wait.
