Amazon may be riding high in the E-reader market with Kindle but American bookseller Barnes & Noble are becoming stiff competition. I'd be getting worried if I were Amazon.
Essentially opening up the E-reading market to a whole new target audience, Barnes & Noble are soon to be pushing out their new 'Nook Kids' platform, a vast collection of electronic books, tailored specifically for the younger readers. If you imagine all the parent's tempted to buy one to get their kids into reading, you realise it's a very smart move by the Kindle rivals.
The books contained within Nook Kids will be aimed at children between three and eight, according to a Wall Street Journal report, which also outlined that content will include popular novels and a variety of "enhanced editions" of classic children’s publications. I might get myself one, you're never too old for Alice in Wonderland.
There's already rumours about an android running Nook device and at Barnes and Noble's 'mystery event' today, many expect a swanky new colour device, which would make sense, not many kids are roped in by greyscale picture books.
