Google has been ordered to clearly mark its "Street View" cars by Italy's privacy regulators. The regulators have also asked thecompany to publicize its itinerary three days in advance. Google is now under obligation to make such announcements on its website, on radio and in local newspapers. The company will have to disclose the areas that it would be covering. Italian Privacy Authority President Francesco said that Google has caused much acrimony in a lot of European countries.
Google has not confirmed the details about the order but has said that it is working with governments. On Friday, Google admitted that its Street View cars had been collecting personal data and the extent of such invasion is thought be much broader than before. The data collected includes complete emails and passwords. Google had already been held accountable by Canadian authorities. Currently, the internet search giant is facing investigation from regulators in Germany, Spain, France and other countries. In the US, more than 30 state attorney generals have launched a collective probe against the company.
