Google has started having problems already regarding the streamed content for their Google TV. There have been reports that ABC, CBS and NBC have all been blocking the system from their shows. Although there has been no publicly announced reason as to why this is yet, it is speculated that the studios are concerned about pirated content being able to be found and streamed through the Google TV.
This pirated content has been looked at as damaging to companies who would want to make money off their shows, and are worried that they would be "lost in the larger internet" which has resulted in a potential dead end for Google's negotiations with studios. Google has claimed that their searches prioritise official sources of content, as well as claiming they have a good system to deal with pirated material. However, companies like Disnye who have requested Google filter their searches when something is copyright by them said that they have been "unsatisfied with Google's response".
Google said that "Google TV enables access to all the Web content you already get today on your phone and PC, but it is ultimately the content owners' choice to restrict their fans from accessing their content on the platform". So basically, Google have dug their own graves here, without companies offering their shows to them, it means people might as well stream pirated content on their PC or laptop and put it through their TV rather than spend all their money on an almost useless device.
