Sex.com sells for $13 million

They're not lying when they say that sex sells. The simple and somewhat childishly humorous domain of Sex.com has just sold for $13 million. Now I don't know how many people are desperate or immature enough to type sex.com intro an address bar, 90% of hits must be bored teenagers, but whoever it is they've made the domain one of the most expensive in the history of the web.

A company from the Caribbean called Clover Holdings is behind the $13 million sex.com bid, according to the BBC. It’s not yet clear what Clover plans to do with the sex.com site but you can probably make a good guess.

Original sex.com owner (and Match.com founder) Gary Kremen sold the domain for $12 million. The company that bought it ended up declaring bankruptcy, leading us to where we are today.

It's not top of the league though, that's another mind-bogglingly simple address, 'internet.com' I just cannot imagine going on, 'internet.com' but regardless it sold for $18 million.

And whist we're at it here's some more domain price tags to make your eyes bulge.

Fund.com: $9.99 million
Porn.com: $9.5 million
Diamonds.com: $7.5 million
Slots.com: $5.5 million
Toys.com: $5.1 million
Vodka.com: $3 million
Candy.com: $3 million
CreditCards.com: $2.75 million
Computers.com: $2.1 million

Hmmm I wonder how mcuh Gaj-it.com will fetch

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
