O2 has announced that it will have the Samsung Galaxy Tab in its UK shops in November.
The Galaxy Tab with its main weapon, Adobe flash looks like it's going to be a big hit once it jumps into the tablet device battlefield that has unfolded in the past few months.
It will ship with unlimited access to thousands of BT Openzone and Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots built into all of O2’s mobile broadband tariffs, where customers will be able to use the Tab’s 7-inch touchscreen (after sanding down their fingers) to surf and browse the web.
O2 says it will have an integrated Google, Facebook and Outlook calendar and services like Google Maps including navigation and said the Galaxy Tab will be available online at www.o2.co.uk and in selected stores from Monday, 1 November.
Whilst 02 are happy to talk about just about anything else, they're remaining tight-lipped when it comes to pricing. But bear in mind, the majority of Tabs sold will most likely be as part of a contract/tariff so the standalone price is not too much of a concern.
Samsung has allowed suppliers to charge what they like for the device which has so far resulted in Verizon US charging only $30 less than the Ipad for the Galaxy Tab. Most analysts think that is far too expensive. But will 02 go lower? I doubt it, the greedy buggers will probably charge more than Verizon.

I keep swearing by open source, maybe because I am an Linux fan evenmore as I discovered many limitations with Apple, which Android doesn’t have. In this fast changing and mobile economy to my opinion the Samsung Galaxy is a bit too pricy. I rather go for a slightly cheaper Android machine like the Pocketbook IQ, that costs only 159 bucks http://www.ebookreaderdiscounter.com/pocketbook-iq-glossy-white.html instead of investing around 500-600 bucks for a device.
