In a major push towards the integration of various gadgets, Samsung has announced that it is working towards developing a software
platform which will work both for its televisions as well as cellphones. The company is looking to attract more customers as well as developers to create apps for its platform. However, Samsung did not give out any timeline for the platform.
Integration seems to be the buzz word now. Apple has most of its products running on iOS platform. Samsung's strategy is already gaining some approval from the industry analysts. According to research firm CCS Insight, only a handful of Samsung's competitors are in position to implement integrated platform and Samsung certainly has edge over them.
This can mean a couple of good things for the consumers. We are hoping for a price cut down on Smart TVs, since the company can now augment its revenue stream from other services using the integrated platform. It would also mean better syncing abilities between smartphone and smart TV. Well, the possibilities are endless, and seems like the "idiot box" would not be so idiot, after all.
