“The Hobbit” Gets Green Light: Casting Rumors Begin

Last week, LOTR prequel "The Hobbit" received the greenlight, and now some more news slash rumors have started trickling in. The movie is slated to be released on two parts and apparently Peter Jackson and Party has started looking around for cast. It looks like Andy Serkis would be back as Gollum and apparently Martin Freeman is still in contention for the part of Bilbo. Sir Ian McKellan is also expected to reprise his role as Gandalf.

Freeman, who is currently playing the role of Dr. Watson in BBC series "Sherlock", was rumored to have turned down the "Bilbo" role.  However, things seem to be back on track as the Studio agreed to change the filming schedule to meet Freeman's schedule.  James Nasbitt has also been offered a role, although it has not been specified which role he would be playing.

David Tennant and Michael Fassbender have also been approached, but like James Nasbitt, their roles are also a matter of pure conjecture. If Tennant gets roped in the project, then the movie is likely to feature two Doctor Whos, as Sylvester McCoy is expected to play the role of Radagast the Brown. So we are going to keep speculating until the official list of actors comes out. You can help by telling us about your dream actors for this movie. My Precious!
