The reports about the drying up of 13.3 inch MacBook Air supply have been circulating for some time. Now, Apple is reported to be planning the launch of its overhauled MacBook Air on Wednesday next week. The new MacBook will come equipped with 11.6 inch screen, ready to target sub-notebook market. Current Air has 13.3 inch screen. Appleinsider has reported that Apple's Taiwanese manufacturers have already started rolling out the latest version of Air. Apple is going to hold its special "Back to the Mac" event this Wednesday.
Apart from downsizing display, Apple is likely to increase disk storage too. New Air is expected to sport an SSD card instead of conventional hard disk drive or solid state drive. SSD Card will not be easily user-replaceable and will resemble a RAM stick. Appleinsider has also speculated that this component may be a proprietary alternative designed by Apple itself.
Air is still expected to look like its predecessor, but obviously would be scaled down to 11.6 inch. Its edges are expected to be more defined and the entire unit is expected to weigh around 2.7lbs. So, let's begin the countdown for Wednesday, then.
