Sony Ericsson has been doing very well with profits in this past quarter, very much thanks to their Android devices with sales reaching €1.6 billion (£1.4 billion), with a net income of €48 million (£42 million). Sony Ericsson's CEO Bert Nordberg believes that the company has 19% of the Android segment venue (although they are far off being the most successful Android sellers) and has said they will be focusing more on smartphones rather than feauturephones (which he believes to be declining).
With Windows Phone 7 coming into play, it seems the company are going to reap in all they can get by getting a device using the Microsoft OS out there as soon as they can. Nordberg brought this up during Sony Ericsson's financial call, being vague about a release, but suggesting a 2011 launch so don’t be expecting a Sony Ericsson WP7 device for this holiday season.
According to Sony Ericsson Sales Chief Kristian Tear, success and increased profits are supposedly thanks to a conservative production rate meaning they have very little unsold stock, meaning they will not require making any drastic "fire sales" to clear what the have left.
