It seems we all worried too soon when it came to the news of RIM cancelling the BlackBerry Storm 3, as analysts Jefferies & Co. have pointed out that the multiple SKUs for the Storm 3 has caused confusion amongst various parties. It seems RIM were in fact working on three different Storm 3 devices. The first of which was a haptic touch model which is the one which was in fact pulled, but there is also a non-haptic version which has "similar thickness and more memory" than the BlackBerry 6 which is expected by the end of November. The final device is a Storm 3 device which apparently looks like an iPhone but slimmer, running on QNX (the same OS which is set to be running on the RIM PlayBook tablet).
Jefferies & Co. have also said that it is likely we will be seeing the latter Storm 3 device early 2011 and a second-generation to the as of yet released PlayBook near the end of the same year. This Secodn generation tablet is expected to have two screen sizes and have 3G and 4G variations.
The analyst company have also suggested that RIM are intending to aid and improve the BlackBerry App world by merging it with upcoming QNX titles, although a RIM spokesperson questioned on the matter refused to comment. So not all it lost if you are after a new non-business BlackBerry Phone, and we'll make sure you get the latest on the devices when it comes around.
