If you were looking forward to the potential of the BlackBerry Storm 3, prepare to be disappointed, as the developers of the device Research in Motion have announced they will "not pursue this device further".
The device which was set to be a refresh for the Storm 2, but news on the cancellation comes from a source at Blackberry Leaks who claims to have received the following message from RIM: "Thank you for your hard work and diligence in preparing your application to support the upcoming hardware refresh of the BlackBerry Storm 2 smartphone (model number 9570, codename R027). Regrettably, RIM has decided not to pursuer this device further and has ended the program."
Despite this unfortunate news, the message from RIM to Blackberry went on to say: "However, rest assured that you will have the opportunity to leverage the work you've put in thus far in preparing for the new OS, as BlacBerry 6 will be making its wat to more Verizon products in the near future, including the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and the BlackBerry Curve 9330". So it seems all is lost with the relationship between the two companies.
The cancellation seems to be from the lack of success from the previous two Storm models, obviously seeing a third in the series being a lost cause. However, the business phone producers are still on top of their game with the BlackBerry PlayBook on its way and the BlackBerry Torch which has just recently been released.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! I was SO looking forward to switching to Storm 3 after my AT&T contract was up. I loved my unlocked Storm 2…. there may not be many of us Storm lovers, but we’re committed! I’ll still go back to the Storm 2 anyway, but kinda bummed!
Thanks for the article.
