This time next month (November 1st) us Brits could get our grubby little hands on the latest tablet device; the Galaxy Tab. What more do you need when the rain starts pouring and the wind howling, than a music-playing, game-running, video-streaming slate in your hands?
All major UK carriers are signed up to offer the Android 2.2 running device including Carphone Warehouse. But for how much? Well Samsung have left us hanging in regards to price, stating only that it "will be available on a range of attractive price packages."
hmm, attractive; it doesn't sound too promising does it? But if you've got the money in your pocket or if you're thinking about putting one (or two) away for a flashy Christmas gift, then what should you expect from Samsung?
In their press release today they stated that the tab is "Representing a new category of mobile products for the company." the Galaxy Tab "features a 1GHz processor, Google’s Android 2.2, Froyo operating system, a front facing camera for video calls and a 7-inch TFT-LCD display."
Not bad. The camera gives the device a one up over the iPad, but then what’s to stop people holding out for the next gen (almost certainly FaceTime compatible) iPad?
Other 'iPad killing' features include the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and The ‘Readers Hub,’ Samsung’s "unique e-reading application "which provides easy access to a digital library, featuring everything from classical literature to the latest bestsellers and reference materials.
So, will this be on your wish-list? or is it just another over-rated tablet?
