Symbian is fast losing its ground and its partners. Although, the mobile operating system is showing signs of recovery, but it does not seem to be in any position to give competition to iOS or Android. The mobile platform still commands 40% market share, but is likely to be trumped by Android soon. Adding to its woes, Samsung has announced dropping its support for the mobile OS. Rumors about this had started doing rounds last year, however, the reports were quickly denied by Samsung executives.
The company, however, has now dropped the ball. Samsung has sent an email to registered Symbian developers announcing the withdrawal of its support to the OS. The company is planning to close its Symbian forum. It will also remove all Symbian related contents. All this is likely to take place by the end of the year. Although, the Symbian Lab Development has already been closed. The move is expected to be a step forward in Bada's direction. The Korean company is currently promoting in-house mobile OS Bada. The company is also working with Windows and Android OS.
