After a long wait, Apple Remote 2.0 is finally available through Apple Store. The newer version supports Retina display, which is now
display option for iPhone 4, iPod Touch and iPad. It also supports Apple TV and Shared Libraries. According to early user reports, the app works well on iPad and other devices. Basically, this app is meant to help you in remotely managing your media libraries. The earlier version was not optimized for iPad and it also did not support Retina Display.
The new version lets you create a playlist remotely, however, you cannot drag and drop songs to playlist. Remote 2.0 also supports Home Sharing, which allows users to automatically find any iTunes installation sharing media on your network. It also can detect if there is any second generation Apple TV on your network. This feature is certainly cool. Another important update is the app's support for multitasking. It also allows for fast application switching.
Among the cosmetic changes, the prominent ones are swirled metal volume sliders, new AirPlay icon and the new iTunes 10 icon. The new version is up for download for free. So, what are you waiting for?
