Will Windows Phone 7 Branch Out to the Business Smartphone?

With the Windows Phone 7 devices expected to be coming in October (although this is just rumour at the moment), it is being constantly speculated what kind of devices Microsoft will be catering too. At the moment it seems to be heavily focused on full touchscreen devices for a large consumer market, however it seems that we may be seeing Windows Phone 7 devices aimed at the business market at some point next year.

In a press briefing, it has been reported that Paul Foster, Microsoft Evangelist in the UK said that Windows Phone 7 phones would come in two form factors; the first being the large touchscreen devices with 800 x 480 resolution we have been seeing plenty of images of, with slide out QWERTY boards (expected next month). The second form would be that of a Blackberry Style handset, with a front QWERTY board and a smaller screen of 480 x 320 which will emerge later on.

Despite Microsoft showing off their impressive mass consumer-aimed devices, it seems that we can still expect a little love for the business smartphone market too. What do you think of Windows Phone 7 on a business device? Leave your thoughts below.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
