Apple extended its iOS 4.1 to iPhone 3G, but with support for Game Center. However, creative hackers have come to the rescue again.
Apparently, it is possible to run Game Center on 3G with iOS4.1. However, the hack will only provide you with access to basic features. Also, the performance of Game Center on 3G is not up to the mark, which is not surprising, given the hardware limitations of 3G. But still, as they say, something is better than nothing.
For this hack, you need to download the Game Center files manually to your 3G phone. You will also have to modify some of the .plist files from the original Game Center files for 3GS. Then these extracted files need to be SSH'ed to an iOS 4.1 powered jail broken 3G. However, we are not going to reveal the changes required to be made, but if you look around, you will find the detailed instructions pretty easily.
