Apple and Google may be at the loggerheads, but there is still a sliver of hope that Google Voice might make its way on to your iPhone. This will be a complete turnaround from 2009, when Apple had tersely banned a couple of Apps which supported Google Voice. Later, it banned the official version as well. These applications were not brought back into Apple's stable despite an FCC enquiry. However, now the company has slightly loosened its grip over App controls and has clearly laid out the conditions which would render an application unacceptable.

Although these guidelines are a pretty big read, but Sean Kovacs, the developer of application GV Mobile, laboriously pored over them. He has finally concluded that his application does not violated any of the conditions laid out by Apple. His App GV Mobile was one of the applications removed a year ago. He also got an encouraging reply to his mail to Apple's approval board. Apparently, the board has asked him to resubmit his App for review. Although, the situation is not clear yet, but things are looking a lot brighter now than before. Let's keep our fingers crossed and wait for approval board's decision. Acceptance of this App will herald a new era of less stringent controls, which will be a welcome change.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
