Windows XP: Dell to Stop Sales of Devices with the OS 22nd October

For all you Windows XP lovers out there, I have bad news for you. Microsoft has informed its partners that no more computers can be sold with the operating system after October 22nd. The operating system may still be favored by some, in fact the computer I'm using right now is running on XP and it's not exactly obsolete.

If you want a brand spanking new computer with the OS however, you'd better hurry as Dell has just reported that they will stop offering XP on new machines later this month to prepare for the cutoff Microsoft has requested. Don't panic straight away though, Microsoft will continue Windows XP driver support in device's until December 2012.

Some select "qualified customers" will be able to get hold of XP machines after the cut-off date, but if you don't fall into the quota you don't have long to get hold of any XP-using devices before they are gone. Feel free to check out Dell's site for more information.

What do you think about the departure of XP? Good riddance or good night sweet prince? Leave your thoughts below.

    And it’s still going fine.
But we all know why we’re doing it all about the money.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
