Despite the army of tablet devices lining up to take a shot at the iPad, Apple are determined to keep their device at the top of the tablet league. As excitement builds over tablets such as, The tab, the Eee pad, LG optimus, Galaxy, Streak etc etc which have all somewhat ridiculously all been branded iPad killers by someone or other (it seems any pad that pops up is hailed as an iPad killer) Apple prime their tactical nuke; Facetime.

A leaked image appparently shows the iPad testing the company's video calling service. The blurry shot of a ‘debug screen’ released by 9 to 5 Mac further adds fuel to the already rapidly circulating rumours that the next generation iPad will come with an end of a front and rear camera makeover and FaceTime video calling.

Rumours of the iPod touch's front camera proved true so it will be no real surprise when the new ipad comes out with Facetime and probably stacks of other features.

Though half the tablet devices that have been rushed out will probably be a flash in the pan, one device that does seem a threat to the iPad is the Galaxy tab and the inclusion of video calling would see the Apple tablet match its capabilities.

What do you think of Facetime on iPad, is it an exciting prospect or a predictable move by Apple?

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
