Manufacturing of Windows Phone 7 Smartphones Begin

Microsoft has announced that their mobile OS Windows Phone 7 has now been released to manufacturing. This means we can expect some Smartphone manufacturers to start producing devices with Microsoft's OS. It is expected that we will start seeing Windows Phone 7 Smartphone's released in time for our Christmas needs.

Microsoft's Terry Myerson who revealed the news in a Windows Phone 7 Blog also said:

Windows Phone 7 is the most thoroughly tested mobile platform Microsoft has ever released. We had nearly ten thousand devices running automated tests daily, over a half million hours of active self-hosting use, over three and a half million hours of stress test passes, and eight and a half million hours of fully automated test passes. We've had thousands of independent software vendors and early adopters testing our software and giving us great feedback. We are ready.

Sounds promising. Hopefully Windows Phone 7 will provide some strong competition on the market, keeping competitors such as Google's Android and Apple's iOS. Christmas time is looking to be pretty active for all these companies.

If you’re a mobile developer wanting to take a stab at developing an app or game for the Windows Phone 7 platform then download the Windows Phone 7 Developers Kit Beta Version.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
