On the verge of Apple's September 'media event' tomorrow CNET, who cites multiple sources, claims that they have received information on a little piece of news that is rumoured to be getting officially announced by Apple in the near future.
As Apple fans brace themselves for iTV and the new iPod touch, iTunes fans will be pleased to hear that the 30 second song samples on iTunes are to be extended to one minute. It's not a huge change but it's sure to please iTunes fans, many of whom who feel half a minute is not sufficient time to get a true taste of a song.
Apple declined to comment but it seems likely that the rumours are true as they're from reliable sources. We'll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow but it's a good sign that Apple who seem to be chucking out product after product are still looking into ways to improve their services and products. It's a small change but it's the small changes that can make a big difference.
It would be strange for Apple to make a solo-tweak to iTunes, so if they officially announce an extended song sample time it will be likely that this change will be part of a series of improvements and updates to iTunes.
At AppleInsider they have pointed out that reports from last week indicate that Apple is set to present changes to iTunes with a 'social focus'. So who knows what other iTunes gifts Apple will give us tomorrow.
What changes would you like to see to Apple's media player?

Well, this is nice. I’d love to hear more of a song before purchasing it. Did I read that the iTV will be $99. So how much will they be over here in the UK?
It’s good to see Apple taking on more of a social focus with iTunes, I always thought there was so much more room for interaction between iPod lovers.
How about iLive?? – The Apple Social Network! Inside iTunes, friends can see what you are listening to and suggest other songs you might like!
