Samsung Pushes Bada OS: Announces Wave 723

Just a couple of days back, Samsung released the final version of its Bada SDK. Now, the company has announced its second Bada-powered phone, the Wave 723. The phone has fairly impressive specs. It comes with 3.2 inch LCD screen with WQVGA resolution, enclosed in its own leather case. Pretty nifty, eh! Apart from that, the phone is WiFi-ready and sports Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity along with a 5 megpixel camera.

Although, the company has not notified any specific date, but the phone is expected to hit the German market in September, and other markets are scheduled for the later months of this year. This new machine will set you back by sweet 240 EUR. And if you are thinking that this phone and the company's in-house operating system, Bada, are going to compete with iPhone and Android, then our answer would be a resounding 'No'. The company has clearly stated that it would not launch the phone in the US, as the mobile operators are not interested in venturing beyond the usual mix of iPhone, BlackBerry and Android. Although, it sounds a little pessimistic, since original Bada phone, Samsung Wave, had a pretty impressive run. The company had sold a million Wave phones globally in less than 4 weeks.

So, what do you think? Are you going to give it a try. Bada is a fairly stable OS, and from a consumer's point of view, a little more competition for the big things aka iOS and Android et al is always a good thing.
