PHILIPS FLUID: a look at the phone of the future?

There have been some wacky concept smartphone/mobilephone handsets floating around the web. Remember the Sony Ericsson concept flip phone that 'flipped both ways' and could be detached into two Bluetooth walkie-talkies? Well as much as we like that it's been well and truly beaten by the latest Philips concept handset.

Providing us with a peak into the future, the concept shows the prospect of an amazing stunning 'bendy OLED device' with bright, high-res image quality and Sony PSP styled gaming controls.

Though this isn't the first flexible OLED concept, the 'Philips Fluid', is the most exciting one we've seen in a while and looks like something we genuinely will be buying in years to come.

The flexible OLED will be a great piece of tech and useful in all sorts of tech and gadget scenarios; we just can't wait for bendy screens! Though T3 points out the possibility of the Philips Fluid folding up into a high-tech bracelet and if that doesn't scream over-paid footballer, then nothing does. But I guess they're right, a fusing of fashion and tech is something we are seeing more and more of, and the PSP style gaming is bang on the mark.

It seems Philips know exactly where the phone industry is heading but how long will it be until we see a phone like this and will we actually like it when it hits stores?

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
