Nokia have announced a new budget touchscreen handset, the Nokia 5250 (following along from the Xpress music 5800)
The price will be $145 (before tax) when launched and follows a surge in 'budget/entry level smartphones' we have seen in recent months. It's said to be aimed at the type of consumer who is looking for a reliable phone for day to day tasks.
The device which will run on Symbian^1 has the specifications to be expected in an entry level phone and comes with a 2.8 inch touchscreen (with resolution of 360 x 640 pixels) and 2 megapixel camera. The battery on the device is actually very good with 18 days of standby time along with seven hours of talk time and a full 24 hours of music.
Its features include a microSD card slot, FM radio and Ovi Music support (and will come with Ovi Music Unlimited in some countries.)
Release dates are not known at the moment although it is expected to launch within the next couple of months.
