Android 2.2 now available on Vodafone’s HTC Desire

Owners of an HTC Desite on Vodafone should be updating their Smartphone in their masses today as Google's most recent operating system; Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) is now available.

After Vodafone's red herring earlier in the month, which turned out to be just a Vodafone 360 update, users will be relieved to finally get the awaited Froyo. The update is available manually to Vodafone Desire users by going to the Handset's 'About Phone' settings option.

The update requires 25MB of internal phone storage for the new OS to be installed. Once installed, it will remove the unexpected 360 update eager users found themselves stuck with earlier in the month.

Have you installed Froyo to your Smartphone yet? Let us know what you think of it below.

I downloaded the update today and it’s great , branding logos disappeared , faster boot, some Apps can be installed on the external SD Card, internet sharing is available through WIFI , an App share application were added , an App was added to allow using the rear LED flash as a torch on 3 brightness levels, chrome extension to forward pages to the phone can be used now, and youtube can be watched on the browser as if it’s on PC. but still the main look is carrying the same HTC sense interface.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
