Katie Price Launches Boutique Range of iPods. Do You REALLY Want One?!

At 9.30am yesterday the world was taken by storm by yet another publicity stunt from Jordan – sorry, Katie Price – in a silly outfit overshadowing the very product she was trying to flog.

Ok, cynicism aside for a moment. Ms Price has launched her very own range of iPods, decorated with girly designs such as butterflies, stars and hearts laser carved into the casings. She’s designed the range herself in conjunction with design company CRi-8, and will be selling them exclusively through the Official Katie Price Website.

In a statement on the site, Katie says:

“I’m really excited about my iPod range and love the way they have turned out. Being involved in the design process was fantastic and really gave me the opportunity to develop and create exactly what I wanted. Hopefully this is just the beginning and you will be seeing more from my Boutique range.”

Hopefully…

The designs are apparently based on her own tattoos, and to be honest they do look pretty nice. Something different in amongst the thousand other iPods out there. I wouldn’t say no to receiving one. As long as they don’t come preloaded with her singing anyway.

You’ll pay through the nose for them – an 8GB iPod Touch usually costing in the region of £150 costs £237 after the Katie Price treatment – but if you’re a fan then head over to shop section of www.katieprice.co.uk.

These iPods are superb, the design is amazing in both the way it has been made and the cosmetics, I bought one for my partner and think that my iphone is just plain boring now! I have asked the design company to personalise my iphone and to my surprise said that they will!! I honestly think that regardless who is the ambassador for this range the product is well worth the money.

  • I do agree. They’re very pretty, and aside from the hearts nano one which I do think looks a little tacky, they’re actually something I would like to own. Just a shame they’re so expensive!

They are really well made and worth the extra, and I must say that I own a lot of Apple products and they are not cheap anyway, with Apple you pay a premium as it is the most well known and “coolest” brands in the world, by making this product even better I don’t think that anyone would resent paying extra, I did see on Katie’s website that the Shuffle is only £81 and an 8GB Nano is only £70 more than a boring plain one. Me personally I honestly feel that if people want a premium product then they should be prepared to pay a premium price, and Apple is most definitely premium!

  • How much is it going to cost you to get your iPhone personalised, just out of interest? I suppose what you are paying for on the Boutique range is the laser etching, so I just wondered if it made up the full difference.

I’ve had a couple of iPods and they do have a decent build quality which might just compensate the higher cost. But a lot of her (female!) fans in the market for these will be teenagers and students, so I just feel it might be too high a price.

The company CRi-8 that I spoke with are the company behind the Boutique Range and Katie is the Face and Ambassador, CRi-8 were more than helpful and said that to laser cut my iPhone as a one off was £55 if I provided the artwork and a little more (around the £80 mark) if I had just an idea and they had to design from scratch. This is why I feel that the boutique range is worth the money as the product and design work leaves a very small profit!!

  • See now that does make me feel a lot more positive towards it. Thanks! Let us know how it turns out :)

  • The designs are pleasing to the eyes and girly. I am sure girls are gonna love this..Btw I can’t understand why Katie is wearing that funny dress..

  • Cool! great material there! Couldn’t wait to check out your other stuffs. Thumbs up! =)
