Sony Speaks Out: The PSP Has “Life in it Yet”

After yesterday's rumors of the PSP 2 coming out with a touch-screen, Sony has finally commented on the rumours saying the current PSP "life in it yet".

Sony's Michael Denny said to GamesIndustry.biz that "We don't have anything to announce [about the PSP 2] and nor are we giving away anything if we say we're always looking at the future as well. For now, we're still concentrating on the PSP as a very attractive proposition." So we  should perhaps not be taking any PSP 2 rumours too seriously for now, instead better speculations could be made on what could happen to the original PSP.

Denny has also said that Sony intends to focus shifting towards child-friendly titles as the PSP gets cheaper, clearly following in the Nintendo DS's path which has shown much success.

Denny admitted sales of the PSP were "not huge", but they are still earning money from the handheld. However, a PSP phone will likely be around soon and considering what Denny has said, they will likely be taking into account what went wrong with the PSP.

What do you think could be in store for the PSP? Leave your thoughts below.
