Vodafone is following closely behind 3's example of how WiFi for mobile phones should be done by releasing its own portable wireless hotspot.
Vodafone's mobile WiFi, made by MiFi creator Huawei, is very similar to 3's device which was released not too long ago. The portable wireless access point that can have five devices connected at once, enabling them to use 3G or HSDPA if available and giving potential speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps.
The device's display shows signal strength, connection type, and remaining battery life (which can last for approximately 4 hours while using the maximum five devices at once). There are also options of keeping it plugged into the mains and through USB if 4 hours just isn't enough time for a single internet session.
The specs for the device also show that it provides a slot for a 16GB microSD card, which is assumed to be for the purpose of shared storage for your mini-network, something which 3's MiFi also does.
The MiFi is a device that is changing the way we connect to the internet when out and about, and Vodafone is offering their new device on an 18-month contract with prices starting at £15 for 3GB/month.
