‘Nokia box’ coming in two day: but what is it?

Nokia has announced a mystery event which is set to take place on August 18th and like the recently announced HTC event there has been no real clues about what exactly is going to be launched/revealed.

But rather than the usual poster or press release, Nokia have done things a bit differently and have been sending bloggers a mystery package hinting at the event which is set to go down in two days. It's a strange move from the company. Surely they do not need to pull off tacky publicity stunts like this? The announcement of an event is surely enough to excite the tech industry, or perhaps Nokia feel as though they have been forgotten under the recent storm of iPhone, HTC, BlackBerry news.

The box itself is adorned with a city (including) 'London' and ‘New York’ along with #NokiaBox and inside is a USB stick that once plugged into a computer reveals a short teaser.

There's also the line 'Every message brings us closer' on the side of the box, suggesting that whatever Nokia have to say it is something to do with messaging. The video on the USB can be viewed here at electricpig and includes the bold statement, 'Something big is about to happen across the globe.'

We have no idea what they have planned but the way they're acting you would think they have invented the next biggest thing.

What do you think is going to happen?

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
