Overview
The LG KU990 Viewty is clearly jammed packed with some delightful goodies and earns a respectable place in today’s smart phone market. Although it may not be as good as the iPhone and may not set the Apple bosses quaking in their boots, I am however going to commend it for its super slick camera capabilities, which could in fact set a dark and dismal cloud over the future of the digital camera market so I’d watch this space!

Last year LG introduced us to the sweet yet sexy delights of the LG Chocolate, so it is not surprising that yet again LG is setting the style stakes high for its latest phone offering with the introduction of the LG Viewty KU990. The Viewty is certainly not just a pretty face because under it’s sleek exterior lies a whopping 5-megapixel camera capable of shooting videos at 120 frames per second with autofocus and xenon flash.

Like many smart phone releases it would be hard not to compare the Viewty to the famous Apple iPhone. Some may say that at face value the Viewty and the Apple iPhone look very similar and the Viewty’s intention is to add a killer blow to the Apple iPhone. However, I maybe inclined to disagree as the Viewty is offering features, such as the WOW factor of its camera features which is deficient within the iPhone, thus targeting a completely different target audience.

If you’re looking for ease of use and simplicity then you’re surely going to love the LG Viewty. However, for the more advanced users it has many neat complex features available such as having the ability to slow your videos down so you are able to watch those action packed kick ass moves in slow motion�but just remember not to try them at home!

The Viewty’s photo-editing features are impressive and definitely one of the best we’ve used, offering the option to add text, doodles, effects, all of which looks crystal clear through the KU990’s large screen.

Around the side of the Viewty’s camera, LG have placed an interesting rocking disc that allows you to scroll through menu options, adjust the volume during calls and zoom in and out in camera mode. It’s very stylish but sometimes frustrating when using the zoom to take pictures and your fingers are peeking in front of the camera lens.

The KU990 allows you to download pages at up to 1.8Mbps, which is impressive as it’s almost as fast as people’s broadband connections at home.

Dialling and messaging is straightforward by using either the numeric or alphabetic keypad, and is aided by the vibrating feature which gives you a jolt every time you select a button. The messaging interface also allows for handwriting input but were not sure if its as efficient than the traditional tapping the keypad.
