Android Powered Samsung Epic 4G Release Date August 31st on Sprint

Sprint is launching their second 4G Android device, the Samsung Epic 4G on August 31st for $250 after a $100 rebate.

The new Smartphone has a 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen along with a 5 megapixel camera (with LED flash), capable of capturing video at 720p HD and a front-facing camera. Android 2.1 is initially on the Smartphone, (which is expected to be updated to version 2.2 shortly post-release) running its 1GHz Samsung Cortex A8 processor. Other features include an 802.11b/g/n WiFi connection, a six-axis sensor, a compass and presumably built-in GPS.

The device is the next part of the line of Samsung Galaxy S Smartphones. Its main difference however to this line of phones is its built-in 4G connection and a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

  • You can import it to the UK but you won’t be able to use it because it is a CDMA device and the UK uses GSM.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
