A gaming smartphone from Sony has been on the cards for a while, however more news has come in which reveals that Sony Ericsson is working on a PSP Go like smartphone. It is said that the smartphone will be a cross breed of the Samsung Captivate and the Sony PSP Go Console.

More interestingly, the gaming smartphone will be based on the Android 3.0 operating system, which offers Google more of a foothold on the smartphone and gaming market.

Other rumoured specs on the Sony Ericsson gaming smartphone include landscape gaming control to replace the QWERTY keyboard as well as a D-pad. Also, it is expected to include a healthy 3.7 inch to 4 inch touchscreen with a WVGA resolution and under its bonnet is likely to include a 1GHz Snapdragon Processor.

With Sony’s expertise in the gaming market and Google’s in the smartphone market, this could certainly be a match made in heaven. Don’t you think?
