HP working on a webOS tablet is old news, but the rumor has just got a brand new stamp of legitimacy. Apparently, HP's Personal Systems Group VP Tom Bradley has been telling HP employees that the company will launch its webOS tablet some time in Q1 2011.

However, what is ambiguous is whether the VP is referring to Calendar Q1 or HP's financial Q1, which starts in November. If it is calendar Q1, HP will need to up the ante, since a slew of tablets are scheduled to be released during the holiday time. Once the tablets, like the ones from LG and Motorola hit the market, it will be considerably difficult for a new machine to make its mark.

Currently, the 'we are looking for a CEO' company has many of its fingers in different tablet pies. Apart from working on "Hurricane", the webOS tablet project, the company is also looking to release a Windows 7 tablet for corporate and an Android based tablet for consumers. While informing employees about the probable release time, the VP chose to skip the specs. The only technical information we have about the mysterious tablet is that it will feature webOS. So, all we can do is to wait for the tablet to hit the market. Something tells me this holiday season and beyond is going to be an exciting time.
