Nokia N8 UK Release Date for 26th August: Is it an iPhone 4 or HTC Desire Contender?

It has been announced by Nokia that they will be finally releasing their Nokia N8 handset to the UK market on the 26th of August.

Online mobile phone retailers, Mobile fun and Play.com are already showing that the Nokia N8 is available to pre-order with delivery expected for the 31st of August.

So with Nokia being out of the limelight for quite sometime, let’s take a look at what it has to offer over the competition and whether it can step back into the smartphone game.

Compared to its competitors such as the HTC Desire and the iPhone 4, it offers a whopping 12 megapixel camera for all you imaging fanatics. Apart from this it’s other specs are fairly standard, as it touts a 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen, HD Video recording and is based on the Symbian^3 OS.

Nokia has also chosen to stick with an ARM11 processor running at 680MHz, a little slower than the Cortex A8 that is used in the HTC Desire.

In terms of pricing, you can preorder it SIM Free for £420 in black, from Mobile Fun and Play.com. It is also proposed to be heading to Vodafone soon, so click here to get updates on when it will be available.
