Asus Windows Phone 7 Sighted in Pakistan

In the mad mad world of mobile OSs, Android and iOS hog all the limelight. But here is some news about their poor cousin Windows Phone 7. Apparently, an Asus Windows phone 7 handset has been spotted in Pakistan. The phone features three hardware buttons and has a spacious touchscreen. Although it is difficult to determine whether the handset is genuine or not, but given the fact that Asus is one of the five manufacturers working on Windows Phone 7, I'd take a bagful of salt and believe that the leaked phone is a genuine entity. The handset also bears Asus trademark and carries a serial number, which lends it a faint aura of legitimacy. Asus is looking to make an official Windows Phone 7 debut in 2011.

The rumor mill was first started by a twitterer from Pakistan, who posted the picture on the microblogging site. Later, she clarified that the phone belongs to her brother. No further details about "the brother" have been revealed, but I would assume it would be fairly easy for the company to identify the person since the phone picture shows a serial number inscribed on the handset. Assuming that twitterer's brother works for Asus or a related company, let's hope he does not meet the same fate as that of the "I left iPhone prototype in a damn bar" Apple employee.
